What happened.Google released emergency updates for Chrome stable channel desktop builds to address multiple high-severity memory corruption bugs.

Why it matters.Graphics engine buffer overflows provide malicious websites with initial sandbox escape primitives for browser compromise. Enterprise fleet administrators should verify that desktop Chrome installations update to version 155.0.8059.84 or later across corporate endpoints.

The technical specifications:

  • Core flaw: An out-of-bounds memory write in the ANGLE graphics translation layer lets crafted web content trigger browser process crashes.
  • Additional fixes: The release patches 37 vulnerabilities in total, including use-after-free flaws in PDF rendering, SVG parsing, and audio handling.
  • Distribution: Updated builds numbered 155.0.8059.84 for Linux and 155.0.8059.85 for Windows and macOS are rolling out globally.
